One of the big events in the Society’s year is our Annual Exhibition of members’ work. At the Preview Evening – representing the Mayor-elect, were the Past Mayor and Mayoress of Winchester, Richard and Elaine Izard from Colden Common. The Past Mayor kindly presented awards to the winners of the under 12 and 12-16 age categories of our photographic competition for young people in the local area. He asked each recipient about their images and was very complimentary about the standard of the youngsters’ work. After this, both viewed the 90 or so printed images and spent time talking to members about their work.
Also present at the Preview Evening was local MP Flick Drummond. Flick saw the Society’s display at the Country Fayre and was very keen to learn and see more of our member’s work. She posted a lovely review on her FB page!
Over the 3 days, over 370 people visited the exhibition, and the comments were wonderful…everyone spent a great deal of time choosing their favourite image! As Anita observed, many people return on a yearly basis – that says a lot about the quality and style of members’ work!
The Society would also like to thank the United Free Church for the use of their wonderful space to display our work, our sponsors, Pearson’s and Jenny Bird, for their continued support plus thanks to the Town Team organisers for their support in promoting the Exhibition alongside the BW Bites event. Alongside the above, though – a big thank you needs to go to Ali Meadows for taking on the role of Exhibition Co-Ordinator and bringing it all together so well. This, together with all the help provided by members and, of course submitting wonderful images – the event can be said to be a success. Congratulations to everyone!
