Image Review

A chance to have another look at the images from the Documentary and set of three images competitions and discuss the comments/see any re-edits.  Please upload any re-edits via the website by 6 pm Wednesday 23rd.

Prints – ‘Portrait’

The image should be “A picture of one or more human beings which makes up all or part of the image. The picture doesn’t need to have been taken in a studio – it could be an environmental portrait (family/workers/travel/street/documentary) or a formal one. Ideally, the photographer would have some interaction/connection with their subject(s)”.

• Members are asked to submit a digital copy of their print to the website upload facility by Wednesday, Nov 6.
• Bring your mounted print on the evening, ‘book-in’ at the front and place your print on the specified stand.

PDI’s – ‘Open Category’

• All images are required to be uploaded by Midnight Sunday, Nov 3.
• The upload facility will show a specific ‘Purpose’ – remember, this is a single-league competition.
• All PDIs need to be re-sized to the usual 1600 pixels on the long side and 1,200 pixels on the shortest side; square images should be 1,200 pixels by 1,200 pixels.

How the evening will run:

• The Hall will be prepared as usual, and the print stands will be set up.
• The Print competition for intermediate and advanced leagues will take place in the first half of the evening.
• During the refreshment break, the screen and projector will be set up.
• The PDI competition will take place in the second half of the evening.

If you have an issue or believe there is an error with your image upload, please email Kevin at competition@bishopswalthamphotosociety.co.uk, who will attempt to resolve the problem.

Kevin will email a list of entries for the PDI Round on Monday (22nd); please check this for your entry.

Please contact Kevin or any committee member if you are unsure of anything related to the competition ‘process’. Information is in the Member Handbook and on the BWPS website. We can advise on external printing companies, mounting the images, and where to get the mount board.

The talk: To give you the skills to utilise your smartphone camera better and show you how to release its full photographic potential. You will be guaranteed to come away with knowing how your camera works better as well as some tips and tricks to get those creative shots

This year, we are planning something different! We are hiring a ‘Skittles Alley’—for this, though, we need to move venues. 

There is plenty of parking, everything will be set up for us, and, of course, there will be a buffet.
