Andy Small talk via Zoom 7.30 pm Thursday 3rd March

‘Fine Art Nature and Flower Photography’

Andy was an artist before he became a photographer, and his time spent painting and drawing, in turn, influenced his ‘painterly’ style of photography for which he is well known.

He runs flower photography workshops for the Royal Horticultural Society at RHS Wisley, gives presentations to clubs and societies, and sells his landscape, macro and flower prints and canvases online and at events throughout the UK.

Andy took us through the steps he uses to capture flowers, wild and cultivated, on his mini-table-top studio using only natural light. Drawing on his artistic background he puts together backdrops that compliment the colours of his subject or give them a black background to highlight the contrast of shape and form of individual flowers.

In thanking Andy, John Coote said “what a fantastic evening – it was good to hear your journey and the set-ups used which gave such effective results”

Andy provided us with a copy of an article on this subject – this can be found here: Andy Small’s article “Say it with Flowers”

For more about Andy, I recommend going to his website www.andysmall.co.uk where you will enjoy some glorious images.
