Ten members went to Salisbury on the first ‘Out & About’ of the year.
The primary purpose of the trip was to visit the 54th Annual Exhibition of the Southern Counties Photographic Federation, which is being held in the Young Gallery above Salisbury Library from 6th – 27th Jan 2024.
The exhibition is an inter-club event, open to all member clubs, which this year showcases 35 panels of the clubs’ work (six images in each), including one panel from ourselves. There was great admiration for all the exhibited club panels and digital slideshow images. It generated much discussion among us all.
We then enjoyed the serenity and splendour of the stunning medieval cathedral. Construction of the building on its current site started in 1220, and it was dedicated to God in a special consecration ceremony in 1258.
The font was created by the sculptor William Pye and installed in 2008. It has a cruciform shape with water flowing from its four corners whilst maintaining a perfectly still surface of water that reflects the building around it. We spent a lot of time capturing images of this magnificent font!
Amongst all this activity, we also found time to have lunch together in the Refectory Restaurant!
Many thanks to all who came along; it was a great start to our out & abouts for the year.
