Early Morning Visit to Petworth Park

We could not have wished for better autumnal weather for our latest O&A to Petworth Park. Eight members made an early start for the opening at 8am (some earlier than others, but best not to ask why!) It really proved to be the “season of mists….”, in fact so misty we could not see the deer initially, but were able to find them by following the bellowing of the stags. It was the juvenile stags that were making the noise, and like typical teenagers they liked to make themselves heard but not keen on much action, apart from occasionally sparring with each other. The dominant stags were very impressive and it was easy to see why the young were reluctant to challenge them.
Petworth Park is so much more than just deer and with a beautiful undulating landscape and the start of autumn tints in the ancient trees we were not short of subjects to photograph
