Following days of rain six members and a guest ventured to West Dean Gardens in Sussex. Despite lowering clouds and the occasional light shower, with no wind, we were given ideal conditions for photographing the beautiful and extensive gardens and grounds. With the threat of thunderstorms though and much moisture in the atmosphere limiting visibility, we did not risk attempting the long walk onto the surrounding downs for panoramic landscape shots. We found plenty to photograph in the gardens and were kept well fed and watered in the pleasant café. West Dean never disappoints and it is a place to return to whatever time of the year – see images below, Mary.
