The aim of the exhibition, now in its ninth year, is to showcase the talents of the members of BWPS by displaying photographs taken by them either as prints, panels (a set of images) and in digital image form.
Many visitors who walk in to the exhibition with casual interest become genuinely engaged on seeing the Society’s work and the exhibition provides opportunity for members of the public to find information about BWPS, its ethos and programme of events.
The Exhibition will be held at The United Free Church, Upper Basingwell Street, Bishop’s Waltham, SO32 1AC.
The opening times are:
Thursday 5th October 9.30am—5pm
Friday 6th October 9.30am— 5pm
Saturday 7th October 9.30am— 5pm
The Members Preview Evening will take place on Wednesday 4th October at 7pm
Sale of Prints and Cards
Visitors to the exhibition will be given the opportunity make a request to purchase copies of members prints. These requests will be passed on to the author of the print to make their own arrangements of price and production with the prospective purchaser.
If possible within Covid-related guidelines, there will be the opportunity for members to have cards made from their images which will be on sale to the public at the exhibition.
Set-up, Stewarding and Teardown
The exhibition is only possible if members are willing to volunteer to assist with the set-up, stewarding and tear-down. Volunteers will be requested in the weeks leading up to the event.
Each member may submit up to 3 prints for £5 (the cost for 1 Print is £2.50). A Panel of images is submitted as 1 print (depending on ‘size’ of panel).
Submission of Images for Screen (up to 3) is free of charge.
It should be noted that we may not be able to guarantee that all 3 images will be displayed due to available hanging space but if 3 images are submitted a minimum of 2 images will be displayed.
The choice of subject is completely open.
The closing date for submission is September 2nd.
Please note: Printed Images must be mounted with a full backing board, in your choice of mount colour, with a maximum size of 50cm by 40cm.
A label must be placed on the back of the mount on the top left hand corner as you look at the back of the mount containing:-
Author name and image title plus preference of selection i.e 1,2, 3
Please place your prints in plastic sleeves (which will be provided) rather than portfolio wallets/case, thank you.
Submission of prints will be on a club evening or by prior arrangement with the Exhibition Co-ordinator.
A major feature of the exhibition of recent years has been a photographic competition for those under 16. They have produced some stunning work and it is great to see the hobby being taken up by the next generation.
The winning pictures of the Junior competition will be on display at our Annual Exhibition.
