Netley Marsh Steam and Craft Show has been an annual event for 47 years, a nostalgia-inducing gathering of all sorts of vintage vehicle. The decision to arrive when the gates first opened at 8.30am (to avoid the crowds) meant that our group of five members plus guest were able to talk to the gregarious tribe of owners and people who delight in restoring old machines, applying Brasso and shovelling coal, and whose families, boyfriends and dogs are expected to join in. They were very happy for us to photograph their prized machines. To my mind the most beautiful was a fairground organ, complete with restored accommodation wagons. A successful out and about ended in whiff of smoke from a cavalcade of traction engines and an unhealthy lunch, images of which may well be submitted for the blog! Stephen Townsend.
